R20 & Terra Mileniul Foundation Partnership

R20, in partnership with the Terra Mileniul Foundation (Romania) and the Romanian Municipalities Association, with financial support from the Swiss Government, committed in 2015-2016 to designing, developing and implementing a low carbon and climate resilient Action Plan geared to reduce their CO2 emission by 20% – 40 % by the year 2020.

 

The plan was also to involve a group of 5 municipalities; Alba Lulia, Roman, Focsani, Fagaras and Rosiorii de Vede. They have all committed to reducing their carbon footprint.
The national conference on local authorities contribution to Carbon Footprint reduction was recently held in Bucharest during the 8th and 9th of March, 2017, whereby the Mayor of Roman, Mr. Lucian Ovidiu Micu and Vice Mayor of Alba Lulia Mr. Pleşa Gabriel Codru were presented their carbon certificates honouring the first and second prize of best results in their respective municipalities. Ms. Lavinia Andrei, President of Terra Mileniul Foundation and Christophe Nuttall of R20 Regions of Climate Action presented the certificates.
